Councilors and state:
Burning trash at the Wheelabrator incinerator does not fit into Claremont’s new
vision. Years of incineration has cost us much – it’s been a violation of our
rights to clean air and a clean environment, has put our children at risk for
asthma, learning disabilities and hyperactivity, has slowed economic growth,
and has wasted resources.
I ask the City Council to fulfill its obligation to protect our community from
unhealthy pollution and the consequences of unsafe and inefficient waste
disposal practices by adopting a responsible waste management plan for
Claremont that does not include incineration. |
